Our client requested we recruit respondents based in the UK who have previously travelled on trains and experienced harassment during their journey for face-to-face depth interviews. The aim of the project was to gather in-depth feedback on safety concerns, experiences, and suggestions for improvements that could be made to train travel. The client wanted to hear feedback from participants from BAME (black and ethnic minorites), women, LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or other sexual orientations) and people with disabilities and we were tasked with recruitng an equal number from each group.
We recruited three individuals who identified as BAME, three women, three people who and identifed as LGBTQ+ and three people with disabilities to ensure their views were represented in our research.
As the subject matter could potentially become sensitive for some participants, we arranged for in-depth interviews to be conducted at the client’s office in London. This provided a comfortable environment where participants could feel safe in sharing their experiences with our vetted moderators. We were successful in closing the project with the client’s objective in mind, and gathered valuable insights while delivering a comprehensive, diverse set of responses.
