A leading manufacturer of connected home devices wanted to find out more about the way that consumers in the UK and Germany use smart devices in conjunction with each other. Some examples they were looking to explore were consumers using a smart speaker to control a home heating system or using a smartphone to monitor home security while out of the house. They requested to interview customers of their own products, and also users of competitor brands.
Our team used a free find approach to recruit over 250 promising candidates, screened each one using an online questionnaire, and chose a sample of 40. We then guided the final 40 participants through the research programme, involving tasks based on a smartphone activity and completing an online diary through an app.
