My team and I have had a great experience working with FieldworkHub. After struggling to find the participants we needed through other vendors for a tough recruit, we reached out to FieldworkHub and were really pleased with their thoughtful and proactive response. The team have been extremely supportive throughout. We’ll certainly be working with them again.
IDIs: AI-moderation with dental patients, Spain

The client brief
FieldworkHub was asked to support an interesting request from a long-standing client of ours. They wanted to run online interviews with dental patients in Spain using an AI-bot (outset.ai) to moderate and guide the discussions.
The purpose of the research was to understand differing experiences of, and general attitudes towards, dental implants. We were asked to recruit 20 respondents who have undergone an implant procedure within the last 12 months. We were also asked to recruit 20 patients who have unresolved dental issues or needs, and have been recommended an extraction and implant by a dentist within the last three years, but have not yet gone through with the procedure. For balance, we were to include a mix of household incomes, as well as representing those living in urban, suburban and rural areas. Those who had only received treatment for minor dental issues were not to be included in the research.
FieldworkHub delivers
Our team recruited 40 respondents that met our client’s criteria, and verified that each of the implant patients had undergone this procedure by providing evidence of dental receipts dated within the last 12 months. We also made sure each participant went through a technology check to ensure they met the requirements of the AI-moderation software, and that they were willing to be on camera with their face visible throughout the interview.
Although we have used AI-moderation before in previous research, the trickiest part of the project was handling the AI-bot moderated sessions. Not all participants had experience using this type of software, and some needed extra guidance in order to complete their interview. As with most emerging technologies, we also experienced some teething problems. We found that if a participant had not spoken clearly enough into their microphone, the software struggled to pick up on insights. Due to the FieldworkHub team’s perseverance, we managed to catch these issues early and communicate to all participants that they would be required to sit in a quiet, well-lit room in front of a laptop with a working camera and microphone in order to participate. Our client was pleased that we managed to deliver against their targets, and our eagerness to help them stay at the forefront of new trends in qualitative research by supporting such software was noted.
FieldworkHub made our participant recruitment process effortless. They supported us from start to finish, offering expert guidance, clear communication and detailed updates at every stage. Their professionalism and attention to detail ensured we had the right participants for our one-to-one interviews and survey. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
