Our client, an open-source blockchain network focused on online gaming, got in touch with us to arrange a qualitative research outline. The topic was centred around crypto currency exchange platforms, and the motivations and user behaviours involved in the crypto space.
Our client wanted to run 90-minute focus groups using an online platform. We have run focus groups with users of Fintech services in both the Netherlands and in the UK, so were well-equipped to assist. They also wished to recruit equal numbers of both current users of crypto platforms and self-described early-tech adopters. The early adopters were not to use crypto platforms, but were ‘non-rejectors’, and open to giving feedback. We were requested to exclude cryptocurrency employees, as well as those earning below $35k.
The FieldworkHub team handled the recruitment and verification of each participant in both the UK and the Netherlands. We ensured to recruit an equal mix of crypto platform users who use their preferred platform at least once every 6 weeks, and early-tech adopters. Recruitment was completed before schedule, which was especially satisfying for our client, as early-tech adopters are notoriously difficult to recruit for research.
We scheduled each session, which were held online via Zoom, and managed to ensure each focus group . We then delivered full transcripts for each session. Our client gave us positive feedback in return, and mentioned being especially pleased to read how each participant ‘bounced off each other well,’ with a variety of opinions on what users want from crypocurrency platforms on show. The detailed range of insights given by our participants ensured our client knew how to move forward with focus on their future strategy plans.
Working with the FieldworkHub team was truly a relief on a complex multi-country project. We used their local moderator and simultaneous translation services in a few markets. Winnie, as well as the local country teams, were adaptable, responsible and accommodating in a logistically challenging project. I value their partnership and will be tapping them in again on the next international project!
