IDIs: electrophysiologists, Europe

We were asked to recruit two electrophysiologists in each of the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain to understand perceptions and preferences around implantable cardiac devices. The manufacturer wanted their opinion on Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), to find out why the interviewees do or do not use the client’s ICD products and to explore what product improvements could be made.

Respondents needed to be from a mix of backgrounds of academic, public or private hospitals. We were also asked to recruit electrophysiologists with different preferences towards specific cardiac devices and different frequencies of implantations of this device in the past year. As there was a rather high possibility that such healthcare professionals would need to drop out of the interviews on short notice due to work emergencies, we made sure to have back-up respondents with a similar profile to replace any electrophysiologist who was unable to attend. With this system in place, we successfully recruited ten electrophysiologists with varying years of experience and backgrounds across five markets and thus pleased our client with a full sample and valuable insight.
